克罗格特·约翰逊，在众星如云的美国儿童文学史上，克罗格特·约翰逊作品的数量并不多，这位戏称自己为“世界上最懒的人”的男人却以最原始的观念和表现手法，开创了一种新的图画类型与风格，至今无人可取代或模仿。他创作的阿罗形象聪明、单纯、可爱，热爱幻想。 　　Crockett Johnson was the pen name of cartoonist and children'sbook illustrator David Johnson Leisk (October 20, 1906–July 11,1975). He is perhaps best known for the comic strip Barnaby(1942–1952, 1960–1962) and the Harold series of books begun withHarold and the Purple Crayon. 　　Born in New York City, Johnson grew up in Elmhurst, Queens,studying art at Cooper Union in 1924, and at New York University in1925. He explained his choice of pseudonym as such: "Crockett is mychildhood nickname. My real name is David Johnson Leisk. Leisk wastoo hard to pronounce -- so -- I am now Crockett Johnson!"[1] Hedied of lung cancer.
